Open your eyes and EXPLORE

I'm not much of a 'tourist' and I can't stand guided tours or typical 'tourist' attractions. That being said, I am in my element with

my family, my Jeep and the great out-doors.

I honestly feel that if any person can look around and not be held in

amazement and wonder at all things in this life,

he is truly blind

Few things are more inviting to me than a landscape of beautiful empty desolation as far as the eye can see with ancient dirt trails running into the mountains shadow begging to be explored and secrets found. Let's GO

Snapshots of Shuey's Life: A Gallery of Memories

Chuck laying under the jeep trying to jack up the jeep with a scissor jack and a screw-driver.

So, did anyone remember to bring the jack-handle? It's OK, I have a screw-driver. (a 10 minute job extended to 2 hours)

This was an event that finished off a great day of exploring west of Dixie Valley along the Still-Water Mts. A GREAT place to explore

No idea where we took this but Happy Wife, Happy Life!

Next to the old mining site of Rawhide, my great friend Wally and I pose for a quick selfie. Wally is quite the geologist and loves to rock-hound

My son-in-law Tim turned me on to this site. It looks like an old Taco-Bell but we call it the Hacienda. It's deep into Dixie Valley. A vacant commercial building near the ruins of Dixie Valley proper. I hear it's a popular location as a base camp during hunting season. Just in case, I'll take a Combination burrito and 4 crunchy tacos.

Shuey's Captured Memories: A Gallery of Life

The LeBeau Gravesite - There are many stories of this gravesite of the three small children, all sisters, who died of diphtheria in 1865.  (Jennie, age 9, Louise, age 6, and Emma, age 3). Off-spring of pioneers heading west. These three were buried in the Fourmile Flat, an unforgiving alkali plain,  near Sand Mountain, west of Dixie Valley. Turns out, the grave has been rebuilt several times but p

The kids gravesite is less than 1/4 mle North of HWY 50. If you visit, please be respectful and bring a toy.

This was a exploratory mine we stumbled on near Rawhide. Very safe and secure, even my wife came in.

EXPLORING

It's human nature to explore.

When we lived in the city, the areas to explore were infrequent and a distance away.

Then we moved to the desert [8-)

And while real life gets in the way, opportunities are much

more frequent and available.
